Great article by Ruth La Ferla of New York Times documenting the
struggles of American Muslim women finding attire to suit their
lifestyle in mainstream stores. A nice excerpt from the article,
The search for balance makes getting dressed a really intentional, mindful event in our lives every day, said Asra Nomani, the outspoken author of Standing Alone in Mecca: An American Womans Struggle for the Soul of Islam (HarperSanFrancisco, 2005). Clothing is all the more significant, Ms. Nomani said, because what a Muslim woman chooses to wear is a critical part of her identity. Even though there is a struggle the story documents how companies are currently catering to these needs of the society, Artizara and The Hijab Shop are listed as such companies. You can also try Anmol Designs . A quick and good read. We, Myself and I by Ruth La Ferla, New York Times Set as favorite Bookmark
